HER CORNER: ASHLEA KEMP

Welcome to Her Corner, a series dedicated to bringing the unheard voices of women's football to light.

Football and fashion have always gone hand in hand. Recent collabs such as Trinity Rodman and Gucci or Alessia Russo and adidas have cemented female footballers within this culture. Ballers themselves have also been leading the way with gunner Leah Williamson always rocking the most suave outfits, the likes of Shanice Van de Sanden pulling off the best in masc style and Kenza Dali always coming through with the cleanest of jackets. But have you ever wondered where you can buy these items yourself? Spent hours trawling through the internet for that one Nike fleece or Adidas cap? Well look no further than WOSOwardrobe, the platform created by lioness fan Ashlea Kemp where she does all the work for you! From Williamson to Walsh, Ashlea has created an Instagram which details where you can get the outfits worn by your favorite female footballers in their instagram posts or just in pap shots and even how much they cost.

Ashlea founded the account when she realized that there wasn't anyone out there who was providing insight into where the lionesses got their pieces from. So she decided she was going to be the pioneering force who did this herself. She was shocked when not even a year later she had created a community of over 4k people who were in the same situation she was and luckily now had a place to find this. Last week I sat down with Ashlea to see what she thinks of the impact WOSOwardrobe has had. “It's bigger than I thought it would ever be, it's like a little community and everyones so nice. I'm glad it's bringing everyone together through fashion and football”. The community feel that the page brings is something that, when I was younger, I would’ve loved to have seen. I think Ashlea is pioneering the way in this sense and providing a great space for lovers of game.

To bring even more of a community sense to the page, Ashlea regularly responds to fans requests as well as creates polls into what the fans want to see, actively using her platform to cater to her viewers. “The most requested is most definitely Leah Williamson and my favorite to cover'', she adds, “she just has a great balance between both masculine and feminine fashion sense”.

Ashlea’s hope for the future is that the culture between women's football and fashion continues to grow and that she can be a part of this revolution. “I’m hoping my page will inspire some brands to see the value in female fashion with football”. With her ever growing audience Ashlea is making waves within this sector, growing a generation's passion for the culture of the sport and I’m excited to continue to see the growth of her platform.
